BUI

OK, frank admission: I was pretty tanked when I wrote that last entry. The conventional wisdom on the intertron is that its a bad idea to blog while hammered, but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm more interesting when I blog after a few. Anyway, what I wrote basically stands, although I do have to add a caveat. That being, in between repeating my "how I came to France story", I did in fact have some of the most interesting chats I can ever recall having, so its not all repetitive grind.

it is probably unlikely that one is ever more interesting when hammered, it just seems that way at the time, or one justifies the inability to shut up [from my experience].

You're probably right, particularly if one talks about "hammered" as in far gone. A few drinks, though, can often loosen the tongue and bring forth an honesty otherwise too closely guarded, without devolving into slurred idiocy. Speaking as someone habitually guarded, that is.

Uncomfortable silences interspersed with incitefull comment vs a rambling drunk. Hmmmm, I'd take the latter any day. :-)

I demand that Anonymous reveal himself/herself/itself so that we can see the source of all-that-is-dour in this world.

For the habitually guarded (I too am a member of that league) a few drinks can definitely enhance the conversational experience. However, even a well-hammered individual can offer much fun and merriment (dare I call it "interest"), provided that the companions of the hammered one are keeping pace.
